This is a 12x16 cotton RagMat, solid color throughout, 4 ply (~.050" thick) mat. Professionally cut with a 45-degree beveled edge opening cutout.

 

Custom MAT Size: Type in the custom Mat size wanted, up to 12x16 or 12x12 Square.

  • The mat will be cut down to your new size.
  • Both sides of the new dimensions must be able to fit within the 12x16 mat board.
  • If they don't, choose a larger 'up to Mat size' that fully fits your new size.
  • If option left empty, the Mat will be cut as a 12x16 Mat.

 

Custom OPENING Size: Type in the custom Opening size wanted.

  • We will cut it out exactly as entered.
  • Make sure the opening size typed in is smaller than the photo/art size, so it won't fall through the cutout.
  • OR choose one of the 'standard' opening sizes listed.

 

No Opening needed? Choose the option: Blank - No Opening

  • You will receive a solid uncut mat board.

 

Adding a Backer? If adding Backers, the Backer size will be the same size as the Mat size.

 

Adding a Clear Bag? If adding Clear Bags, the best fitting Clear Bag will be included.

  • Clear Bags are not customizable in size.
  • If the Mat is a Standard size, a matching bag size to mat size will be used.
  • If the Mat is a custom, non-standard size, the best fitting size bag available will be included, and always as a ‘regular closure’ bag type.

Museum mat boards are made of cotton which is naturally acid-free and lignin-free so it starts and stays pH neutral and safe for art. Meets all standards for Museum Quality as set by the Fine Art Trade Guild. Lifetime of protection.

 

Suitable for valuable works of original art, historic documents, other artwork desiring museum grade presentation and preservation. When nothing but the absolute best will do.

 

 

!! MAX Custom Opening Size is 2 inches smaller than Mat Size. This will allow for a 1 inch mat border on all sides.

Custom Opening Sizes

We will cut Custom Openings EXACTLY as you type it in. If you type 8x10, the opening will be exactly 8x10. Please note that if your paper size or artwork is 8x10 it may fall through the opening. In this case, you would want to specify an opening of say, 7.5x9.5, to allow for a .25" overlap on all four sides of the artwork/photo. Subtract .5" from the actual photo or paper size to get this number.

Custom Outsize Dimenison Mats

Need a custom mat board size not listed? No problem, simply select the closest size item listed on the site that your custom size will fit into, and we'll cut it down to size for you. No extra cost. Example, if you want a custom size mat of 11x15, you would select a 12x16 mat size; if you want a 17x22 mat you would select a 18x24 mat size. Simply select the larger mat size and then, in the Special Instructions box, type in the outside dimensions that you want. Example, 'Cut mat to 17x22' or 'OD 17x22'. We will then cut the mat (and any matching Backers, if chosen) down to that size for you. No extra cost. Make sure your Opening Size is not too large for the new custom mat board size.
